Anyone running shielding gas with flux core wire?  If so, what is the benefit?
Reply:I'm pretty sure Rockstar fab does....he builds LandRover bumpers.I not really sure why but he likes it...stronger maybe
Reply:If it is a dual shield flux core wire then you have to run a shielding gas for the wire to work properly.  if you are talking about self shielding flux cored wire then it would be pointless, and a waste of money.  All wires are designed to be run at certain parameters.  Doing something other than how it was intended is not gonna yeild the best results that could be obtained with the product.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......

Reply:Duel shield wire is used for special welding conditions, high deposet rates, high strength, etc. Not recommended for the average Mig.
