Wanted to be able to not only light up a work area but project into the driveway and across the garage.  Works pretty good for a $15 light, about five bucks in materials and some Rustoleum Red.
Reply:I like the design. I have a similar lamp... hanging from a piece of wire.
Reply:Same one my dentist has   I got a coupla those, get hot but man they give you LIGHT,  might remount one like this, very handy and clean work.Lincoln Power MIG 215Lincoln WeldPak 3200HDLincon ProCut 25Lincoln WeldanPower 225 AC/DCIf all else fails... buy more tools
Reply:Bought a similar light from Menards with 500 and 250 watt bulbs. Had it on for 15 min. pointing down at the table and CROINK! the clear glass shattered into a thousand pieces. It's going back, next one I'm going to drill some air vent holes even though those bulbs do like it HOT.
Reply:Well done and a heckuva light for 5 bucks.SteveI'm not a welder, but I do sit next to one at the bar.
Reply:Thanks gents, I get more off this site than I give.7A749--the arm is just a friction fit, the 1/4" flat flexes enough that it will pinch it and keep it in place.  A nylon locknut avoids it loosing up.
Reply:Really cool idea!  I bet a bunch of us are gonna rip off this idea.(Retired) Professional firefighter, amateur everything else I try to do...Oh yeah:  Go Big Red!   (You know: one of the 12 members of the Big 10 cuz we left the 10 members of the Big 12...)
Reply:Nice idea....They now have monster CFL's availabe in the 300W range.  They put out a kick *** amount of light and stay cool.   I have also seen a LED version of that lamp available from HF;  its' probably junk but it might be worth taking a chance.

Reply:Nice.    And it's so, ummm, red!        The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...
Reply:Well Here is my attempt at a copy.
Reply:Dave where did you get those fastners? The plastic knob ones.Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio
Reply:Those fasteners came off the light I used. I'll post more pics later today when I finish it.
Reply:At work we bought a couple of lights just like this from Grainger. They have some sort of composite washer in the joints to give the right amount of friction but they don't work. The handle for the light is cheesy (bent with first use) and if you have it loose enough to move it won't stay put. Might steal your version and reuse the 500w light from ours. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/FOS...998?Pid=searchLast edited by RaptorDuner; 10-27-2010 at 02:40 PM.Millermatic 200Hobart Handler 120Victor O/A & Ramco BandsawLincoln 225 ACSnapOn AD HoodMiller XMT304/22AHypertherm Powermax 1650 G3Lincoln Idealarc DC600 w/Extreme 12 VSMiller Digital Elite "Joker"
Reply:Here are some pictures if the light mostly finished. I still need to grind the welds on the patch plate and the end caps and paint. Sorry for the thread jack. I put thumbnails instead of full pictures this time.  If I charged $150 instead of $206, I would still make a $125 profit.  Last edited by DaveWMFD; 10-27-2010 at 09:35 PM.
