I bought a ratcheting screwdriver set from harbor freight..I liked the ratcheting thing but it started falling apart ..so i started to make my own from some junk I had laying around..I could have just bought one from sears or somewhere for cheap , but i was bored. It is a cheap ratchet with the handle cut off & an extension..Some pieces of 1 1/8 & 1 " tubing, a "6000 rs" bearing that convieniently fit right into the 1 1/8 tubing, and a shaft collar.. The reason for the 1" tubing between the two other pieces is because it butts up against the outer race of the bearing and holds it in place...plus i thought it might make it more comfortable to hold i still have to finish welding it and grind off the rest of the handle but that shouldnt take to long..I also have a nice soft rubber grip from a bike im gonna put on it.. I dont know if welding cr-v to plain steel was a good idea, but.. its just a screwdriver. Last edited by ak4130; 11-06-2010 at 10:41 PM.

Reply:i bought the hf set during an emergency..Think i paid like 6$ for it..I really like the pouch &extra long bits..think it was worth it for that..the screwdriver is junk though
Reply:in time you will find them bits are junk also. way to brittle. snap off just tightening a screw. |
