There's some debate at my school about whether a weld test for an AWS cert has to be administered by a CWI or can be given by someone who is a certified welder (not inspector).I was under the impression that the test has to be administered by a CWI but I can't find anything in D1.1 that says that. Is it elsewhere in print or am I wrong?
Reply:Reading between the lines here........... If you suspect the guy giving the test is not a CWI......... I'd just keep quiet and give him my best weld possible. Grab the paper / certification and ease out of the testing facility.Could be your choice as to weather you "make a point" or pass a test. In my past experiences those guys are usually someone's worthless brother-in law, son-in law, etc.Your choice. Thanks,HoboLincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20. They come and go. Growing partial to the "Short Hoods" in my old age. Last count on Short Hoods was 13 in possession.
Reply:Any one can administer a qualification test and record the results and sign the document testifying to that effect.Last edited by Fat Bastard; 08-09-2012 at 09:50 PM.
