hey ya'llnew here and thought i'd ask alittle advice. i've welded some aluminum over the years but i'm certainly no expert. our plant has three maint. shops, i'm in what they call the "boiler room". we do most of the welding . lately we've been getting some cast aluminum in and we've been doing ok with it but i'm really not satisfied. we're using a miller 300 with hi-freq box and it does real well on regular alum. flat bar and such, but like i said, when it comes to the cast i'm not to happy. any advice or suggestions will be most appreciated. tia.
Reply:If you want advice you should tell us what exactly your not happy about, or what is giving you problems. Hardest part about cast is figuring out what filler to use and how to pre-post heat or if its at all necessary. Also poor quality castings sometimes retain a lot of dirt that makes them a pain to weld.Have we all gone mad? |
