I know, I know........why on earth would I go any buy a HF Easy Mig 100 when every one on here told me to stick with a Hobart, Miller, or Lincoln.  Well I decided to pull the trigger since it was on sale for $120.  I figured but the HF Easy Mig 100 then go for a Handler 187 or similar machine later.  I figured this would be good enough for me to get my feet wet without dropping a pile of cash.  Does anyone have one of these machines? Thoughts?  On a side note I did pay an extra $20 for a 2 year replacement warranty.  So if the thing dies I can get a new one.
Reply:I have one. And it's not a bad welder, the wire feed at low settings is a bit jerky, and it comes with not so great a wire. But after you learn to run a descent bead with it and then use all the wire it comes with, get some Lincoln wire from Home Depot or Lowes and man can you tell the difference! I did get a Lincoln welder after learning the basics with the HF machine, and again you can tell the difference! Reply:Welcome to the forum Snyperx, I'd never knock a guy for buying a machine that "get's him in the game" I have a 110v mig also and have done a couple of things that turned out good. Have fun with it, just understand it's limitations. If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:Thanks folks!!!  Appreciate it.  I have a couple small things I am going to do.  I fabbed up some brackets for my Hi-Lift jack that allows me  to mount it to the utility track that is in my 2005 Toyota Tacoma.  Hoping to do a few more small projects then migrate to larger projects and a bigger machine.
Reply:congrats! u will learn aot...
Reply:where did you obtain the mig for that price? I always borrow one of my friend's mig, but this is cheap enough for me to own until I get better!edit: looking on their site, I realize you got a flux wire only mig.. I was hoping their dual (flux+gas) mig went down in price Last edited by TeckniX; 07-06-2008 at 02:38 PM.
Reply:I have had the same machine HF Easy Mig 100 about 3yrs run Lincoln flux core only on it outside welding only.Once I got the tension right on it, it welds as good as my buddies 140.I put a cooling fan in it and it's never timed out, and I have run some long beads with it.If it ever dies I'll just replace it with something better. Paid for itself many times.Doing what I like
Reply:Hey, Just bought a HF Easy Mig 100 myself...that fan sounds like a great idea..wondering where you picked it up and how did you install it? Took a few welding classes at a local junior college running 100% duty with gas all day long...No problem..worried about this flux wire and short 10-18% cycle..was on sale and only need it for minor body work and quick fixes..any other suggestions keeping it cool would be appreciated. Thanks, 66Slug
