I am in the market for a lower end tig welder and I came a cross the WSE200P on ebay. I have read some reviews about them and for the most part they lean towards the positive side.I am buying for mostly mild steel, 4130 material, however I want to do aluminum with it. Will it weld aluminum effectively, not considering welder experience? Is 60hz enough for welding aluminum? Any ideas would be helpful
Reply:Not familiar with this machine, so I cant answer about it. You may want to look around more before you buy. Not familiar by personal experience with this machine either, but you may want to check out the GiantTech TIG200PAC AC/DC TIG/Stick Welder on their web site. www.plasmametalcutter.com Not sure what your price range is.A few of my toys !LinuxMintManjaroMiller Roughneck 2E Lincoln WeldPak 100HTP MTS 160 Chicago Electric 80amp Inverter Victor O/A
Reply:Hey jodia037,I have a Riland WSE200P AC/DC TIG/MMA unit that I use exclusively for TIG only. I use it several times a week to weld the custom AL D/Plate crafts & classic/show car accessories I fabricate. It has been in use for over 2 1/2 years now, a full sync. unit that goes from .5 to 300hz, comes with a Weldcraft 26 series torch, steel footpedal, & only draws 20.7A input for full power. My filler log indicates I have used 92 lbs. of CS/SS/AL filler so far. I am quite satisfied with the performance of this unit and it has paid for itself many times over from the crafts/accessories I have made. Here are some pics of my unit & the site info to examine. On the 2nd pic, bottom of the cart, you can see one of the custom AL D/Plate toolboxes I fabricate & weld with my unit. Hope this helps you a bit.....
