So my #1 thing for home use shop was getting good, but inexpensive equipment. I am done getting all my equipment. So for my home shop I have a Oxy/Acet kit, Lincoln 180HD MIg, and a Lincoln 175 Tig Square-wave welder. Total for EVERYTHING (including two NEW 55cf tanks) was only $1,850!
Reply:sounds like you got a great deal on your equipment....but I wouldn't say you are done buying, there is always something you find that you want or need. I always say I'm still accumulating, that way I don't get any grief from my better half when I find something new that I want. There is no failure...only feedback
Reply:You'll never be done buying equipment. When I bought my first mig a couple decades ago for $1500 I thought that was the last mig I'd ever buy. $10-15,000 later, I'm still not done buying mig equipment and associated 'peripherals'. That doesn't even touch on the tigs, engine drive, plasma, saws, bender and all sorts of other tools I've bought. If I had my way, I'd drop another $20K on additional equipment in a heartbeat, but the economy just isn't supporting that habit right now.Last edited by DesertRider33; 10-15-2009 at 01:51 PM.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Forgot to mention I have a plasma cutter, air compressor, saws, etc...lol
Reply:IF i had all the money in the world i would never be done buying tools. i really really really want to upgrade and get a python beam line, but i simply don't have the floor space to get an effective throughput. And even though real estate took a huge dumper here in nor-cal so did the economy so upgrading just isn't in the cards.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:you got a start going. I would have tried to srape up the cash for 125 cf tanks though. I made the mistake of getting an 80 cf O2 tank on a life time lease but my lws let me upgrade by paying the differance of the lease prices.Tough as nails and damn near as smart |
