About to start a new sign project...

Just got my steel into today, after much delay with the supplier. Paid a whole lot more than just a month ago too. Also got a quote on some 2x3 aluminum box, $28 more per length than the last time we bought, around Thanksgiving. Wow. I hope the value of our scrap has improved equally.(1) length of 12" (1) length of 8"(1) 4'x8' sheet of 1"And here's my "engineered" drawings from sales. lol. As usual, I will make it up as I go...Mid sized multi tenant sign, but kind of a fun design. The top sign, between goal posts, is a double sided LED display. My deadline is simply "ASAP." Typical.I will make it in two sections to facilitate transport and installation. The 12" plated with 1" at both ends. Anchor bolts in concrete on the bottom, and a top plate to bolt the goal posts and LED board section on to.Actually, that's a bit messy, having a big plate up there to look at. Maybe I'll cap the top of the 12" with nuts welded inside the cap. And then have a round match plate on the goal post section. Much smaller and neater.Perhaps.I'll say the LED boards weigh 600 lbs, plus the weight of the 8" pipe uprights, another few hundred. Widest bolt pattern I could fit in the 12" would be 9" or so. And the cap weld, pipe wall is 3/8" I believe. Oh boy, time to get out the calculator.To be continued...
Reply:When I first read this it looked like the 4'x'8'x1"thk plate was going to be the rectangular sign board on top!!!!  Now I see (I think) that your using the 1" for column caps.
