Reply:since i only have a-d for amp range, and was using C, should i have used D? or just more wire speed ?
Reply:I'd say it was darn near perfect from center to the left. From center to the right you were a bit inconsistant and probably moved just a tiny bit too fast. But I'm being super picky too point that out. I've seen guys spend 10-15 hours trying to make beads 1/2 that nice on an outside corner joints at the tech school. I'd say good job. I think if you went hotter you'd burn away the edge of the plate..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Adding more wire to your original heat setting will only help it to run colder. Your options are turn up your voltage to a higher letter or turn your wire speed down a bit.  You did good though. If you continue to run the smaller wires you will be fine on a wall outlet. Don't go over .030 wire size in solid core if your on a wall outlet. No matter how high you turn up your heat it will look ropey. The gasless core wires work great in that machine on a wall outlet and work great on thin metal. Only down side with the gassless is lots of spatter.Hope that helps.Miller Maxstar 150 STLMiller Trailblazer 302Victor TorchesCertified welder - 3 & 4G - SMAW, FCAWSpeedglas 9100XArc Air K2000
Reply:thanks for the helpful tips, and compliments guys!i tacked the peices on th B setting, and it seemed to cold, so i turned it up to C, i was afraid to burn too much of the edge with it on D.rig: yea, other than just for practice, i dont do much thicker stuff than this right now. i've never run the gasless wire in the machine (yet) but im sure at some point i will.i actually found WW im my research in purchasing a 220V tig machine down the road, so anything thicker than this will wait till my skills develop with that first. thanks again!
