Had a local steel shop cut me some steel on their water jet for my home made wings. I did try to cut these myself with my plasma but I was spending to much time cleaning up edges and I wanted a better look. Most of my plowing is residential with a few bigger commercial lots, probably 80% res and 20% commercial so I needed wings that would either come off quick or fold back. I could have bought buyers wings if I wanted to put them on and off. With the way my route is set up I would be man handling them a few times per storm, I wanted something a little easyer.
Reply:Tacking pieces together.Test fitting for clearance to the truck.
Reply:Looks to be very well thought out and engineered.   AutoCAD or trial & error templates? Now to make them power extend/retract. Speaking of which - how will they be held in the "retracted" position?MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Had to make a way to pin the wing to the back side of the blade. I wanted the pin to lock the wing in both positions so when opened the wing would have 3 pin locations. When its stowed just the 1 pin holds it in place.

Reply:Cool. What rod did you use to burn thru the paint?  Figured you would have ground down to bare material before tacking everything in place.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Went with a rubber cutting edge for now, a little more forgivness if I catch something but I am probably going to go with a poly cutting edge next season when I replace the plows cutting edge.I've got to use these 3 times now and they save me quite a bit of time on the bigger lots. The plow is a 7' 6", with the wings out I'm at 9' 5".
Reply:Have to say that just looks too cool but I don't miss having to deal with snow removal 4-5 months out of the year.Do you not use the gauge/wear pads or are they just removed at the moment?MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
