bought a roll from HF a while back i was there and it was on sale i use lincolnnr-211-mp and ran out last nite so itried the HF man that stuff is junkwhat a wast of money
Reply:You did change the polarity? I have been using Hobart FabShield 21B, E71T-11 with excellent results. At low power settings the slag crust easily brushes off, at high settings the slag is more like powder and easily brushes off. Spatter can be a problem, however flux core has a larger heat-wire speed sweet spot and spatter can be adjusted to a minimum.
Reply:You shouldn't need to change the polarity, since nr-211-mp is flux core, too.But it might be something else.I've used a lot of the HF wire. Their solid wire is made in Italy, not China. I'm not sure about the flux core. But I've never had an issue with it.Jack OlsenMy garage website
Reply:Could it be that the spool had the wrong label? Solid wire with a FC label, than the polarity would be all wrong and no shielding gas to boot.Never can tell what youll get in HF. I have a HF optical Tach, tested it with the flicker from a florescent light and its dead on.
Reply:For wire, I stay with Lincoln, Hobart, McKay, ESAB and Alcotec. Those brands are always a safe bet for quality. Anything from Radnor with flux involved is usually junk.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:the wire is e 71t-gs made in italyi looked it up, Per AWS A520current- new or propietary wire, properties as specifiedby the supplier.shielding- argon additions may improve weldmetal properties and welding characteristics.i have the charts for all the filler metal but my scanner is not working and some are dcep and dcene70t-10 is dcen and e71t-1 is dcep
Reply:TG-S is self shield straight polarity, like T-11 and T-8.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Flux cored is garbage. I got tired of dealing with the cracks and porosity. We're dual shield only now.

Reply:I've never tried the HF flux core but tried some .023 solid once. I got it to see how the small diameter wire would work for a specific application. I was in New Orleans at the time and it appears the copper coating is strictly for show as it was instant rust. Never tried any more of their stuff. I've used NR-211-MP for years with excellent results. As long as it is clean and the wind isn't blowing 40mph I've had no problems with porosity and never had any problems with cracking. Used it on trailers and roll-off containers in a salvage operation which is a very abusive environment. Never had to make any repairs. It is tough stuff. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:You need to build barriers around your weld if you weld outside (which we do a lot). Compare a flux cored weld to 6011 and a dual shield to 7018. The differences in toughness are significant. Dual shield also has a higher deposition rate which saves time. C02 is cheap.
Reply:I used the .035 flux core form HF and it worked great. I think I burend a 10lb spool with no problems.Build a Barstool Racer at BarFlyRacers.com! |
