Does anyone know of a good cross-reference showing the compatibilities (or non-compatibilities) of various makes of O/A torches and tips? Oxweld, AIRCO, Victor, Harris Calorific.. etc.. Which fits which? I know some do and some don't, and it isn't safe to mix-n-match non-compatible apparatus. But it would sure make buying decisions easier if I could find a good reference. Reply:I'll list ones I know don't match. Purox, Airco, Victor. I have at least one of each and none of them interchange. On the Victor. I know some cheap Victor clones will take Victor tips, and others will not. They are close but don't work. That's probably poor quality control or issues converting standard to metric when they did the copy..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Also, MECO will not be compatable with Victor. Dont know if it will match up with any others as far as cutting tips go.A few of my toys !LinuxMintManjaroMiller Roughneck 2E Lincoln WeldPak 100HTP MTS 160 Chicago Electric 80amp Inverter Victor O/A

Reply:MECO was known as Modern Equipment Company. I believe either they are no longer in the torch bussiness or have been acquired by someone else, I may be mistaken though. Some or most of their mixing barrels and attachements were constructed of aluminum. Reply:I have two basic setups in use right now. One has a Harris cutting torch on it. (dedicated cutting torch not one of the combo units) The other is a Victor torch with the rosebud on it. I've got a handfull of regs and torches laying around that I picked up cheap here and there for next to nothing usually. Reply:guys will victor and smith interchange i have both plus a harris also thanks
Reply:It is very important that anyone using torches make sure the equipment is compatible. Victor is copied by everyone, even Harris makes Victor compatible equipment. With the except of all of the Victor type equipment, handles, cutting attachments and tips are not interchangable. I do not know of any chart that list all makes of equipment and the tips used for each. But every manufacuter does offer tip charts and compatibilty charts for their own equipment. Also, Meco was bought by Victor. Victor only kept about two or three peices of equipment in thier line.OAdoctorwww.regulatortorchrepair.com
Reply:Uniweld makes a look-a-like Victor, Harris, Airco and Oxweld and they are made in Ft Lauderdale, Fla., also with US Standard measurements. One of the only Torches and Regulators left in this Country. JGSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. :
Reply:Mondo, I found a few web sites that may help.http://www.uswelder.com/torchtools.html and this one has a chart that shows what tip is for which torch. Does not show the interchangeability between torches, just the info.http://www.hoopersupply.com/tipchart.htmlLike OAdoctor said, 'make sure'!Rodney The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.'
