Hey guys i know nothing and i thought i would ask welders for some advice to new people. A little background first. Im 17 and was going to join the military after high school but that fell through. I looked around on the internet and saw welders/ pipewelders get paid fantastic money. So after highschool im going to go Tstc and get a Combination & Pipe Welding Certificate. Ive heard good things about Miller; are they the industry standard? What is the bottom-medium end prices for fully functional welding TRAILERS.What kind of salary am i looking at right after technical school if im willing to move ANYWHERE?Any other advice for people who know nothing about welding? Thanks.
Reply:If your able to get get certified in welding pipe, then are interested in pipeline welding, A Lincoln portable machine is generally the industry standard, not Miller. Some job sites will not let you on site unless you have a Lincoln. In shop pipe welding on the other hand is a different story. Any good robust industrial electric dc machine will be up to the task of pipe welding.Last edited by snoeproe; 11-13-2012 at 06:47 PM.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720
