http://chico.craigslist.org/grd/1523801531.htmlso anyways i am considering getting that welder, a linde with a boom wire feeder, etcdoes anyone know anything about this unit or at least recognize it and know the model?where can i find a MIG gun for this unit, or will a modern one work fine?
Reply:I recommend that you contact AmericanWeldQuip (www.weldquip.com) They make a great product, that is reasonably priced and they will put whatever type of connector you need so you do not have to deal with adaptors. I was unable to access the link in you gave, but it has been my experience that these units were set up with water cooled torches with "Euro-Qwik" connections, but that is an old man's memory of the units I used and saw in the greater Cincinnati.
Reply:If the power supply works, I would just hook up a different, more common feeder and torch to it.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

If you need a different set than what's on it, you're gonna pay thru the nose for them. For $50 you can't go wrong, just don't expect to plug it into the wall & start welding with it. I would buy it & scrap it for the copper.IMHO, of course
Reply:this does seem a cheaper and maybe longer lasting welder than a similar priced chicago electric unit (ugh... harbor freight tools)
Reply:He could hook up a volt-sensing portable feeder to it and not worry about the contactor issue if he wires the contactor so it's always on.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:well, thanks for the help. I think i may go for this unit.i checked some other places and somebody has had experience repairing welders of this age.it's all just basic HV components in itnothing really advancedand plenty of scrap copper so if it is unsaveable, I lose no money on the deal
Reply:update: getting it saturday-driving there and buying it.
