A while back I acquired a Wards/Century AC/DC. I have played with it and decided it is a keeper.I do not know the history of the leads , from the looks of them it must be quite a tale. 1 is about 6 foot and the other about 10 foot with splices.Any how the plugs that attach the lead to the welder are called? I tried every name I can think of on Google and didn't find anything I can identify as replacements. Most are for joining two leads for extension. Can the plastic insulation on my existing plugs be removed and reused also the brass plugs themselves? If not where can I get replacements? Or would making them on my lathe just be simpler?ThanksCal
Reply:You should be able to re-use the plugs and insulators. Check Welding Depot for the parts.
Reply:There should be a set screw going thru the plastic. I think it is a 1/8'' allen wrench. It's a pin push in connection to the machine. The older Miller Thunderbolt uses the same connector size for their cable to machine. I know TWECO makes them. Measure the diameter of the pin and check welding supplier or TWECO.
Reply:The Century pin plugs are similar to the Miller ones but slightly different in size. Lenco part # UP-10 will fit your machine. Available at your LWS or on line.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
