There are two button on the TA 185 that Im not sure of, REMOTE and CONTACTWhat is the proper setting for foot control of the amperage in Tig operation?
Reply:i have the ta185, cant understand the answers ive gotten to that question. when i started using it i had it set up wrong. i think it was david r here to told me how to do it correctly and all of a suddn my pedal was working..worst case try different combinations of these buttons until you see that the pedal actually ramps the arc up and down.
Reply:the 300 ac/dc ieems to be the same.i can get it to do what i want...but i dont understand it!!sounds dumb i knowG
Reply:I have the TA185 too and it's very easy to set. With the bottom right control in the tig-hf mode (picture looks like a tig torch with a lightening strike through it), the top control (contactor) is not used and the middle control (current) is set to remote (remote position is the square box with an arrow sticking out). This allows you to use the pedal to control the current and contactor. With the bottom control in stick mode, set both controls to panel (panel position is two round circles with a line), unless you want to use your foot pedal while stick welding.Don't ask me how to set the tig-lift mode (picture looks like a tig torch with an up/down arrow next to it) cause I've forgotten how since I never use the machine in lift start tig mode, except a couple times when I first got the machine. I would try it with the contactor set to panel and the current set to remote and see what happens.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op |
