Thanks for answering my question about cast iron porosity, I have second one if you don't mind. Is adding material to a cast iron exhaust port by brazing less involved and perhaps more predictable (less chance of cracking) than adding material by welding cast iron with all the required heating and cooling procedures. Thanks Rich B.

Not exactly what you need done, but it shows what can be done by someone who knows what they are doing.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=187371Peter ( castweld) is probably one of the most knowledgeable guys here when it comes to cast iron work. Brazing, tig welding, spray welding, mig welding, stick welding, he does it all. If you do an advanced search by key word "cast iron' and put "castweld" in under user name, you'll get a ton of various projects he's done over the years to look at..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:You don't have to do the pre eat and post heat with several of the UTP cast iron rods. I've used them for years. They are about $80 a pound with a ten pound minimum though. If looks don't matter then the brazing would be the ticket. |
