Hi,I'm an amateur car/truck builder and ive been doing a video build thread for a laugh. Ive had a bit of professional welding done on the truck, but want to get into it myself so have purchased a small mig for home use. i thought you guys might enjoy this video and my projecthttp://www.youtube.com/user/pimppala.../0/FdZk0l6uwJ4cheers,Nick

Reply:Must say, I have been taking some welding classes at the local CC and my welding instructor looks NOTHING like that.  Good for you.  Although, I don't see anything wrong with a little kink.
Reply:sweet videos and build thanks for sharing. cant wait to see that beast done!
Reply:I love those old import trucks, been looking for a 70's mazda or datsun for some time now.

Reply:are you trying to make a "reality" show ?i was interested in the project, but in your vids you spend very little time dealing with the project.your fluff is better than the real project content.doesn't really appeal to me as a hobbyist.
Reply:Vary cool.

Reply:Don't pay $hitear much mind he's just one of them guys that can't find love so he's picking his nose and flicking them on everybody he can. Cool vid and please post more.
Reply:cheers man. im just doing the videos for fun in my own time so im not fussed if some people don't like them, and i know its impossible to please everybody. Sear's comment was all good, but comments like 'can i have my 5 minutes back' aren't really useful to me. I'd rather know what people didn't like, or what they thought would have been interesting, etc, so that i can make the next ones even better. the tricky thing im finding is making them at the right level. its hard to make things interesting for both amateurs and professional engineers, as obviously stuff like cad is not going to be interesting at all for someone who uses it everyday. nick

Reply:Originally Posted by SEARthis guys name here says it all minus a few other adjectives stalk and piss in other peoples threads out side of the off-topic now too? he has 20 vids on youtube, watch them
Reply:I appreciate the vids as well so its time to subscribe to see more and hopefully find a buildsite to get more details on materials and tools used including info like what cad software was used.
Reply:front half of the chassis is 100x100x4mm  (4"x4"x1/6"?) SHS, rear portion is 75x75x4 SHS, all mild steel. the mounting structures for the front and rear suspension are all 3mm mild steel, and the program i was using in the latest video is Solidworks. The bulk of the chassis is fairly basic in design though, so was pretty much done by scribbles on paper and measuring with the body and wheels etc mocked up. as stated above, the reason for the thick wall and large diameter chassis rails is that I wanted it to hold lots of high pressure air so I dont need to add air tanks. Its going to be a show truck, so i also wanted to have zero visible air lines or valves. for those without an hour to watch all my videos, theres some photos here:http://pimppalacecustoms.blogspot.com/cheers,nick
Reply:oh, and dont be put off by the name, we came up with it after a few drinks one night. im not a pimp, dont live in a palace, and dont own a custom shop... haha
