Here's a smoker that I built a while back. Made from a 1/8" wall 20" pipe that's about 3 ft long. The fire box is 1/4" plate. Works pretty good. When I first built it a few years ago there was no firebox, just used it with charcoal. Added the box recently so I could just use wood and cook brisket easier. Sorry the pics are from my phone.Inside fire boxVents and handle.Spring loaded knob to control the damper door.
Reply:Very nice! Looks well made.
Reply:excellent work! how much did you pay for the pipe back then?Weld well; grind less.
Reply:I got the pipe for free when I made it. The only thing I bought was the angle for the legs and the flat strap to cover the door edges. I used alot of stuff I had laying around from other projects.
Reply:But the chain has been welded together.
Reply:great work
Reply:There's a damper door between the cooking chamber and the firebox. The door pivots on the rod going throught the back corner of the firebox. The chain is just welded together to make a lever that is adjustable via the spring loaded knob that holds the damper where you want it to help control the heat. It's really not needed as I usually just leave it wide open but it's there.
