Has anybody used the Weldcraft rare earth tungsten?? How would you compare it with the other types. I skimmed through rare earth on a search but didn't see any comparisons, but may have missed it.
Reply:I use ceriated all the time for everything and its what I prefer. More stable at lower amps than thoriated, also not contaminated as easy and holds a point better on AC.Have we all gone mad?

Reply:CarmenElectrodeThanks for the information on the tungsten. I ordered some weldcraft rare earth today. My welding is so sorry it will take more than a good tungsten to make it right.I think you have to be very proficient before you can tell any subtle differences in the electrodes. I will know pretty soon.
Reply:'tis true you need to be fairly proficient... BUT might as well give yourself an extra boost with decent equipment and quality tungsten (whatever the color)Let us know how it works out...-----------------------Carmen Electrodewww.CarmenElectrode.comand the boss blogs at www.JoeWelder.comall powered by www.Arc-Zone.com
Reply:I just ordered some 1/16" and 3/32" from arc-zone. Hopefully, it is nice stuff. it's the exact same price as ceriated.I have used ceriated and thoriated and I prefer ceriated. like someone else said, it seems to stay cleaner longer. it almost seems like aluminum wants to jump onto the thoriated.I'll report back on the rare earth tungsten.
