Purple tungsten

Has anyone tried the purple band tungsten? I just picked some up from the LWS and they said it is replacing the red ones.

Reply:what's the purple, lanthanated? I was on a Conoco Phillips job last month, they wouldn't let us use our red tungstens, we had to use the gray ceriated garbage. Man that stuff is junk!I studied up on it, they say the lanthanated is comparable to thoriated.huh, I just looked it up, purple is thoriated too, they claim it's radioactive now.
