I am building a sprayer that will fit on the back of my tractor. It will have a 55 gallon plastic tank that is 24 inches in diameter. I'm at the stage that I am ready for the saddles for the tank to rest on.I bought two pieces of 14 gauge measuring 10"x48" each. I don't have a slip roller so I'm looking for bending ideas.I'll take some pictures today and post later. All comments will be greatly appreciated.Glenn.Sign on East Texas payphone: Calls to God 40 cents......it's a local call...
Reply:Id sandwich a few pieces of plywood, and cut them to the radius that you need and clamp the material at 1 end and bend it around hammering as you go to get the shape, once you pull it off a bit of hand forming will be required, but that is about the cheapest option you have. Expecially if have the wood laying around,
Reply:Draw the radius you need on your bench with soapstone. Weld stubs equally spaced around the line you made, clamp one end of your strap on a stub, heat the strap with your rosebud & wrap it around the stubs clamping as you go, crude but effective way to do it.

Reply:Your saddles for the sprayer attachment will need vertical supports. Put them in place and brace them very well, lay the strap over top, and have an assistant push the tank into place whilst you stand by to tack it in place. One possibility of many...JasonXMT 350 MPA Dynasty 280DXSuitcase 8RC / OptimaSpoolmatic 30AThermco Ar / C02 mixerAssorted O/A gear

Reply:maybe use the ideas about forming mentioned above, tack material at the start and pull it around with a heavy ratchet strap, use several self tapping screws to hold or tack in place, remove strap , weld. Might work , if I have pictued it right in my head........Mike
Reply:On your "table" (driveway, ground, barn floor etc....) mark out the arc, weld or drive pieces of rebar, rod, grade stakes, what ever you have in along the mark. Clamp to the first stake, start heating and bending and continue till your done.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ." |
