This is for a friend of a co-worker. The car is a 4g61 mitusbishi mirage turbo (aka Cyborg). The thing is pretty rare and no one makes performance parts for them. It had a blown out flexjoint and needed it replaced, so we decided to replace the downpipe with a 3" stainless one. Chuck Norris was born in a log cabin that he built with his own bare hands.

Reply:very nice. one of my first projects when my welder comes in will be to weld up the exhaust on my truck. As for the question about the flex joint, IIRC my mom's 87 grand national had one on the turbo inlet connection. She had the car about 5 or 6 years and never had a problem with it.

Reply:Really nice job on the exhaust. It does not look like your inexperienced. Looks like the exhaust routing will transfer heat to the oil in the pan. I'll bet that turbo exhaust gets pretty hot.I love japanese engineering... That of course has nothing to do with the killer job you did fabricating the pipe, that aint easy, I know from experience. Reply:You're right about transferring heat into the oil pan. But when the other alternative is smashing my pretty exhaust, I'd rather just use synthetic oil and change it a little more often. I always try to tuck any exhaust as high as possible without creating any rattles. It wasn't an issue with the old pea shooter but going from 2.25" to 3" made a big difference. The owner can always heat wrap it later if he wants.I can't wait to hear it fire, I'm waiting for a new turbine outlet gasket after removing the o2 sensor housing for porting.Chuck Norris was born in a log cabin that he built with his own bare hands.
