Built a sign last week, stuffed it in the ground today. Here is the CAD:Here is the sign.It is built out of 4x4x3/8" box tube, it weighs 825lbs.the 2x2x1/8" box tube worked out really slick holding the sign up, I tacked it to the sides while holding the sign in place with a backhoe. Putting the supports up on the Cinder blocks worked really well when it came time to pour the concrete because it allowed us to float and finish it with out the supports being in the way.On the back side it will have a cash box mounted on it.An interesting point of note, the ship in the back ground is CV-16 the USS Lexington. She is the 2nd most decorated ship of WWII and back in 2007 I spent a good deal of time welding on her. Replaced several pieces of the ship, and I built several hand rails and other things around the ship. It was an awesome experince.
Reply:Is that the ship that was on the discovery channel a couple years back showing them moving it from its moorings to a new dock?
Reply:Next time they refit with the right capstan they can use your sign as an anchor point to pull her out of harbor. Save the trouble of putting her into drydock. Seriously, that sign is gonna outlast that carrier, too bad none of us will last long enough to see it.Mike
