Reply:that stuff sells under a few names..it works pretty good..just CLEAN the metal real good...a cheap alternative to tig..it has its limitations..I wouldnt use it on anything that needed strength for saftey...but great for your type of repair
Reply:Never used it before, its probably just like brazing. You should find the end of the crack, then drill a hole at the end. Grind a little and fill er up.
Reply:Thanks for the advice everybody,I'm going to try it and see what it is about............dougMaxus Pro-125 MigChicago Electric 90 amp DC flux-coreLincoln Electric AC 225 tombstoneO/A torchM/O mini-torch10 acres of flatland15 acres of holler
Reply:Hey Doug,I keep a tube of the other brand, HTS, that I use with excellent results for repairs on those zinc/diecast repairs & some very thin aluminum items that may not be viable with MIG or TIG. It works well, although, I will agree that nothing structural or weight-bearing to be used on. It is strong if applied properly, & like aluminum, gotta be really CLEAN. I use a SS wire brush & acetone as I do on regular aluminum. It take some practice to get the "feel" of brazing with it, so I would suggest a couple scrap pieces to initiate the learning curve. I use propane at times, MAPP, & an o/a jewelers' torch on the really small repairs. It has a place in the shop. Let us know how you fare. Good luck.....DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:I never tried to braze aluminum before, trial and error,I do have some acetone and one of those jeweler's torches and the other little mapp gas oxygen torch to use if I can't get it with the propane torch,It says it doesn't require a whole lot of heat but i will be prepared I reckon.I'll post some pics as long as it doesn't look to bad(lol).....
