Anyone know anything about this brand?http://www.smarter-welding.com/IGBT-...chine-china-1/obviously made in china, which i dislike.other than that, many of their machines have decent specifications. output and duty cycle are better than the old buzz box i am currently using.the price point makes me cautious ....anyone know anything else?
Reply:Don't know. I recently bought a Thermal Arc 161STL, which is of Chinese origin. Now I am wondering if that was a good choice. The Smarter 161i has some strong selling points:Output characteristic is similar to the AC weldingt machine; Arc is strong and the stiffness is good.• Using inner characteristic control mode for responding quickly to changes in arc length so that the arc will not easy to be broken.• Using peak current control mode; Power device can work reliably even if the frequent impact of short-circuit. They didn't come out and say it, but I can tell it will be of strong character and loyal."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder

Reply:Rove Yu Rongtime Welding and Garden Equipment, I think.Speaking of warranty... back in the day of IBM XT computers, folks were selling clone parts. There was a business in NJ called the "Chinese Motherboard Factory". Their service philosophy was "Customer right even when he wrong, because everyone entitled to bad day." Not kidding, that was in the flier."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:i think this is one of the ones listed on the "smarter" webpage.http://www.ebay.com/itm/ADVANCE-IGBT...item460babfa98kinda hard to tell which one.it says it is a DC welder ..... really not much info.i would very much like a welder capable of DC, but i need one that will go up to 140 amps, as i find myself welding at the top of the range with my current AC welder.hate to spend money and get burned ....
Reply:On the big one a little midget Chinaman climbs out of the welder cabinet and has a small Inverter welder in his hands. He then proceeds to weld what you want him to and after he is finished he asks for a bowl of rice and gets back into the welder cabinet.
Reply:I have the s-200 version. I purchased it at home depot last year for $229.00. It is a pretty good welder. I've run 7018, 308-16 and 6011 on it. No problems so far.

Reply:i'm kinda liking the Powerarc 200.having a 100% duty cycle up to 160 amps is kinda nice. my current welder is in the 30% range at 140 and 10% above 140a. and i always worry that i'm welding too much, this more or less eliminates that worry ... and it has an indicator to tell you when to let it cool down.thanks for the find!i'm willing to spend 350 on something with a warranty. i'd get an old tombstone, but their output is limited on DC, so it wouldn't be much of a gain.guess i had better start saving my pennies. maybe buy a welder instead of another rifle
Reply:Warranty on these things from China are a joke. If yours would break down they send a Chinese guy over here in a row boat to fix it. If he gets it patched up then your good to go until the following week when it breaks down again. If he can not repair it he puts it in his row boat and takes it back to China where they have a crew that is paid 17 cents an hour each look at it and decide to fix it or replace it. After that is decided they either put your repaired one or the replacement one in the row boat to get it back to you. The main problem here is it is a One Armed Chinese guy they send in the row boat to bring your welder to you so it takes quite awhile to get it here. |
