Reply:Thanks for posting, man. And for the bed frame idea.(Retired) Professional firefighter, amateur everything else I try to do...Oh yeah: Go Big Red! (You know: one of the 12 members of the Big 10 cuz we left the 10 members of the Big 12...)
Reply:I was just going to miter my corners instead of doing like it shows in the plans. My bed frame angle iron is 1.25 inches and probably around 12 gauge which is just a shy under 1/8".Might help out on weight.Last edited by dugndeep; 04-22-2011 at 09:30 AM.Maxus Pro-125 MigChicago Electric 90 amp DC flux-coreLincoln Electric AC 225 tombstoneO/A torchM/O mini-torch10 acres of flatland15 acres of holler
Reply:Coolness
Reply:Probably need to bevel the bottom of the legs so it would set flat on the floor.I figured I would do that after I am done to make up for my inaccuracies.lolMaxus Pro-125 MigChicago Electric 90 amp DC flux-coreLincoln Electric AC 225 tombstoneO/A torchM/O mini-torch10 acres of flatland15 acres of holler

Reply:What about a simple dust pan....it was things like this that got me interested in welding besides doing it at work. This will be hard for me to make because of the thin sheet metal,my HF 90 amp only has 2 settings, high and low and low just isn't low enough......I could take it to work and weld my sheet metal pieces. Reply:Got started on my shop stool, got my 4 legs cut.Having to grind off rivet heads and then get a punch and punch them out.I got 1 more piece to get rivets out of then I can continue.Had to quit awhile ago because of bad storms rumbling thru, get back at it tomorrow. Reply:When cutting miters, always check your angle,I didn't and cut one piece on both ends at 40 degrees which in turn made it too short to fix.Well my bottom square is going to be made out of 4- 12 1/4" long pieces lolI am trying to have very little waste, plus I only got 3 pieces of bed frame to work with lolLast edited by dugndeep; 04-24-2011 at 10:04 AM.Maxus Pro-125 MigChicago Electric 90 amp DC flux-coreLincoln Electric AC 225 tombstoneO/A torchM/O mini-torch10 acres of flatland15 acres of holler
Reply:Got all my pieces cut and mitered plus might add the 4 feet that were on the bed frame. We've had so much rain this past 2 weeks, with more coming today,my garage floor is wet plus now my barn floor is starting to get wet too.I've been cutting all my metal on the bench in the barn because garage is just too wet, both have solid limestone rock floors. Reply:Be sure to clamp your stool all up after you get your 2 squares welded up before you start final assembly weld.Legs need to be at slight angles in relationship to upper and lower squares.Maxus Pro-125 MigChicago Electric 90 amp DC flux-coreLincoln Electric AC 225 tombstoneO/A torchM/O mini-torch10 acres of flatland15 acres of holler |
