Hi everyone. So i'm somewhat new to welding. I took a shop class in high school several years ago and I learned how to MIG weld, and now I'm looking to buy my own machine for personal reasons (mostly just hobby stuff). So i'm looking for a decent *cheap* welder. I'm thinking about a 110v flux-core wire welder because I'm mostly going to be welding carbon steel square tube between 14GA and 16GA thick. My reasoning and research tells me that a stick welder wouldn't be ideal for this job? And I don't want to put down a lot of cash for a welder that uses gas. Can anyone suggest a decent machine in the 100-160 range?(I know I can't get good quality, but I don't really need the machine to last more than 2 years) Or am I completely off and should be using something else? Thanks!Last edited by projectwind; 03-27-2010 at 01:07 AM.
Reply:Sounds like u could use a Hobart Handler 125Ez. They cost about $250 or so. I got mine from Tractor Supply Co. on sale for $220
Reply:if you plan on doing thin metal like that i would recommend a welder that can do gas because with flux core it is very easy to burn throughDynasty 200DXPassport plus w/ spoolmate 100victor 315c oxy/(act and prop)Miller digital elitemilwaukee power tools
Reply:How would this do:http://www.amazon.com/Factory-Recond...75128&sr=1-304It (sorta) fits my budget and can do gas. I also might be able to pick up a used "110 volt wire feed dual MIG 132t" with gas tank for under 200. Is that a good deal? I couldn't find any info or price point for such a model. thanks
