Your thoughts on this welder...

I spoke to my buddy about me buying a Tig welder and he said he knew a guy that was selling a TIG welder. He called him and this guy has a Miller Dialarc 310 amp with everything ready to weld for 1500 bucks.  He said the unit was about 12-15 yrs old and in excellant shape. Reply:One main ? is can you current electrical handle it.  That welder may need 100 amp breaker on its own.
Reply:Ii have a good size pole barn with a 220 hook up just for a welder. I'm thinking that I should buy either a more newer machine or a new one. I would like to buy one today. Reply:unless your welding alum. it's probably more machine than you'll need and you can save money buying a new smaller one, if you will be just welding tig and stick carbon and s.s. look at a maxstar 200 by miller it's small and portable runs on 110 and 220 and work very well, keep in mind it is a dc, and new costs less than 1500 i think
