Just thinking ? The reason for a rod oven is to remove  moisture.Why wouldn't Desiccant Beads work with out the waste of energy.I know it's been thought of just looking for the why?

Reply:Because it won't meet code.Desiccant beads only absorb so much moisture. For home use, it's better than nothing, but for code work, it won't cut it. As long as the oven is plugged in and running, it will keep the rods protected as long as they started out good. The average oven won't recondition rods however.Keep in mind many  times codes are hard to change. Also many times specs will get pulled simply because there's already a "standard" that's stricter than required, and guys simply copy paste..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
