Added two outriggers today and tested it out. Worked great! The unit stays firmly planted through all movements, fully extended swung left, right, up, down, etc. Just needs paint. I added a pressure washer hose to the side of the pedestal and out the boom so I can wash up high. I use the lift of the tractors 3 point hitch to lift and move it around with the outriggers extended. Attached Images
Reply:That's on my idea list too.........You might consider adding a few more pin holes in case an outrigger lands on a hump or a hole.My name's not Jim....

Reply:If I understand this right...   No need for more holes.  just move the 3 PT till the feet touch the ground.? why not make a 3 pt hook- up on the trailer, and use the tractor as a stabilizer.  Maybe a swing tounge like on a boat trailer.Nice job looks good.Pound to fit, paint to match

Reply:my comment on the out-of-level comments is to add a set of stabilizers on the rear. Rubber and suspension dont really count as a stabilizer.Weldanpower 225 G7Ironworkers Local #24

Reply:Thanks for the feed back, I do have a few more "tweaks" coming for level adjustment but this gets me to a "usable state" for now. From the position you see the lift in, the boom only swings 90 degrees to the left and to the right, it won't swing any further than that towards the tractor. This lift was on a truck that had no stabilizers, it just used a 2" diamater anti-sway bar that connects the two rear springs. The weight of the truck was all that held it down.You can see that anti-sway bar in the first and second pics above. I bought the truck last November to "start" home improvements this spring and it was turning into too much of a job to repair the truck, so I sold what I could and scrapped the rest.I stopped myself from turning the "tool" I bought to fix the house into a major restoration project and instead turned it into the tool I need. I love repairing and restoring old stuff so it was an internal struggle for me to not fix the truck. I knew if I continued I would have a shiny "like new" bucket truck in 5 years from now and a house that needed paint 5 years ago. So I'm more proud of myself for going this route with the lift versus the actual finished product  I know it's a very rare sickness I suffer from "wanting to fix and restore everything", but I think I saw at few of you at my last "help group" meeting
Reply:I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!  I have been looking at used bucket trucks or towables for some time, all too pricey. I would be concerned about the length and number of outriggers. Even with your tractor attached I could see some major leverage in action overturning the whole shebang relatively easily.
Reply:I second putting legs on the back.  Your 3 point hitch is not like hooking to a draw bar hitch.  If you are working off the back of the lift and reach out past the axle pivot point or bounce the boom the hitch will raise up several inches.  It probably won't come un hooked from the ball but it will scare you to death.  Looks like a handy tool you have put together.Dan
