SuperVisibility/B&L/AO weld cool.

I keep hearing guys talk about at the weld shop, and read on here about how legendary these lenses are/were.  I actually had an  instructor give me a lens he claimed was made by Bausch & Lomb.  But I can't find any record of any such lens in existence ever at all on the internet.  Don't get me wrong it's an awesome lens, very clear, but I suppose my question really is--Why don't they make them like that anymore?  If so, where do I find them in case I smash the one he gave me?  I'm also interested in seeing what's out there as far as AD lenses.  Do they not make great passive ones anymore because AD lenses are just that great?  These are the questions burning in my young, rookie mind.       BTW- So far I'm only welding downhill on  6" CS, using 6010 5p+.  My amperage ranges from 75-100 usually. I do sometimes weld on Sch 80, but most of the time it's only on 40.  P.S.-- I do realize that this may have already been discussed.  I have searched, albeit not extremely long-maybe 40 minutes, to find answers to these questions.  Thanks for your time.
Reply:Trying to answer this question is like trying to tell you which white cotton briefs will fit your a$$ the best! Everybody's eyes are different. I have several Lincoln Super Visibility lenses, but a couple years ago I switched to the ArcOne # 11 auto lens, it is just as clear as the Super Visibility lenses. I load my hood this way, clear plastic lens out front, gasket, auto lens, clear glass lens, snap spring. Reply:I could only find the American Optics cobalt gold plated lens in shades 10 and 12. Though I used a 10 Supervisability, the AO 10 left me with spots in my eyes. I did love the detail I could see with it but if you are getting spots you will eventually cause damage to your eyes. I tried the AO 12 but it was just too dark. I think an 11 would have been perfect but no one carried them. That was about twenty years ago.I use SpeedGlas and Huntsmen electronic lenses exclusively now
