I've seen some auto-dark helmets, even some dirt cheap ones, that let you adjust the response speed - that is, how quickly it darkens when the light hits it. Of course this is typically in so many ten-thousandths of a second. I have mine set to respond as quickly as possible; why would you want it slower? Seems to me like the faster, the better.-RuarkLincoln 3200HDHobart Stickmate LX235TWECO Fabricator 211i
Reply:I'm pretty sure that the "delay time" is for switching back to see thru/ normal mode. At least that's how mine works and it ain't nuthin fancy, just a Rhino brand AD wide view helment, but it works for me and I like it.
Reply:That must be what it is. I can't tell the difference. It's AFTER the weld, not before. Jeez, can I just delete this post? I can hear the old timers laughing out there.-RuarkLincoln 3200HDHobart Stickmate LX235TWECO Fabricator 211i
Reply:I was having some problems getting flashed MIG welding, and when I switched the helmet to the slower response the problem went away. Even though I mostly TIG, I just leave it on slow.RichardSculptures in copper and other metalshttp://www.fergusonsculpture.comSyncrowave 200 Millermatic 211Readywelder spoolgunHypertherm 600 plasma cutterThermal Arc GMS300 Victor OA torchHomemade Blacksmith propane forge

Reply:Originally Posted by zekeNo, there was a thread like this before and I misunderstood the delay as you may have. I thought it was more to do with sensitivity like darkening when there was trigger light off to the side. Nothing worse than setting up to strike an arc and the thing goes dark before you want it to.I guess that's because my older SpeedGlass has a range of shades and sensitivity, but no delay.
