pipe welding tig root question???????

OKey you are putting in a root with tig..........This will be a x-RAY test situation keep in mind,,,,,your root looks pretty good ,,,,,EXCEPT one spot,,,,a  TIT,,,OR COLD wire spot,,,,,,,,what i do is turn my amp up and hold the heat on that TIT,,,,,while the heat is on it look inside the pipe and watch for that tit to suck itself back into the root,,,,,,,,I know it works well but my question is will this cause any extra risk of failing a x-ray test?????????
Reply:if you pull out of it too fast you could get a fish eye. Other than, you're good, just remember to feather out your pull out.
Reply:I usually thin out the area of the tit and weld over it using just enough filler rod to keep the area from sucking back.Lincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20. They come and go. Growing partial to the "Short Hoods" in my old age. Last count on Short Hoods was 13 in possession.
Reply:that works too. If you watch it real close you can see when it breaks down, the puddle will fill up all at once.
