I really enjoy looking at these forums, you can get good ideas to build things. No more heating and beating in the vise anymore. This is what I built. Attached Images
Reply:Before the paint was even dry I decided I needed to add a small outlet table with a movable guide 90 degrees to the top brake die just to keep the bends square (not done yet, but on the list) Attached Images
Reply:Practical and straight forward.  Good job. Did you run a test yet and the top die, is it beveled? I am originally from NE Ohio as well.  50 miles south of ClevelandForgot to add, nice touch with the winch, I have been meaning to put one on my press.Last edited by geezer; 05-03-2011 at 08:32 AM.Reason: add contentGeezerPower Mig 255C185 TIGBlue 175 MIGRanger 8 Kohler 20HP1974 5K Lincoln/Wisconsin Powered (Cherry)Victor/Harris O/AK 487 Spool Gun
Reply:Looks great. I live in Medina county Ohio. How did you get the edge on the top die? (not sure if that is proper name - part that is forced down by the ram)Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio
Reply:The top die was ground to a 60 degree angle. I put a new 7" disc on the big Milwaukee grinder and laid it flat at the angle I needed and just kept going back and forth, then I took a big file to it. It took a long time but it worked. The break will bend 1/4" past 90 degrees. Ohio, I wish it would stop raining for a while. LOL. Attached Images
Reply:Very nice! This is on my too build list.

Reply:That's a very professional looking job, nice work.I'm in Morrow County Ohio about 30 miles up 71 from Columbus. I'm working on an ark in case it doesn't stop raining.www.excorioprecisionarms.com
Reply:Very cool.  How do you like it?  Any other changes you think it needs?  I am in the process of building one.   I was thinking of using a 1x1" bar as the leading (sharp) edge.  I plan to bolt it the plate, so if/when the edge gets nicked/bruised, I can just put a new edge on without scrapping the whole plate.Lincoln AC225 & MigPak 140, Lincoln Magnum SpoolGun, Miller Spectrum 375-X Plasma, Syncrowave 200 TIG, Millermatic 252 MIG, Miller Digital Elite, General 7x12" horiz/vert bandsaw, 3' box/pan brake, 20 ton press, milling machine, 12x28 lathe, etc.

Reply:Nice clean build. Looks great!
Reply:I finished the outlet table and have used the brake some, it works very good but a air over hyd or fast lift jack would make it better. Attached Images
Reply:What is the capacity of your press?  Can you use a stronger air over hydro jack and increase your bending power without damaging the iron worker?  Just curious.  Loooks great all put together and painted.BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys?  Trade?
Reply:I like it.As with all projects, if you had it to do over again, what would you change?

Reply:I like the looks of the press, but I might be tempted to put the springs on the other way to press down on the part I was about to bend.  It might make it easier to hold the part in position if it were under some spring tension.Miller Syncrowave 350Millermatic 252/ 30A spoolgunMiller Bobcat 225g w/ 3545 spoolgunLincoln PowerArc4000Lincoln 175 Mig  Lincoln 135 Mig Everlast 250EX TigCentury ac/dc 230 amp stickVictor O/AHypertherm 1000 plasma
