Please recommend good air line filter for compressor (to protect plasma cutter)

Reply:Google MotorGuard  they provide a nice filter assembly that many use for plasma cutting. Another source is Harbor Freight or auto parts stores. The same type of filtration that works for automotive paint spraying applications will work for plasma.Jim Colt   Hypertherm

Reply:Hey SuperArc,I had an xtra HF filter that I set up on my TD52 that works excellent. In conjunction with the filter on my compressor, this filter on the p/cutter provides nice dry air. As a suggestion, simply drain your compressor tank prior to starting & this will minimize moist air as you start. Reply:I got the Motor Guard M-100 kit which includes a 1/2" npt filter plus two elements.I have to say that Yorkiepap's HF unit looks pretty good and looks like it includes a regulator, gauge, fittings, shutoff valve and drain valve.  You don't get any of that with the Motor Guard.I looked at the HF manual and it looks like this uses a re-cleanable filter.  These usually don't stop water mist but there is a drain valve to periodically drain the water.  Don't forget to do that.  The Motor Guard uses what looks like a roll of toilet paper which absorbs water.  I guess that if it gets too wet it restricts the air flow and you have to change it....I'm still on my original element so I can't say for sure.Also, FWIW, the HF is rated for 40 micron while the Motor Guard is rated for 0.01 micron.Miller 211 w/ spool gunMiller Dynasty 200DXLongevity 60i IGBT plasmaO/A w/ crappy chinese torch/gaugesSouth Bend 10K latheGrizzly 4029 10x54 millGrizzly 7x12 hor bandsawangle grnders, bench grnder, bench belt sndr7.5 hp 80gal cmprsor
