I have a '98 F250 and am about to buy a welding bed from a buddy. The only thing is im gonna have to cut about a foot off of my frame of the truck to make it fit. The problem is my leaf springs are going to be too long after i cut the frame, in other words they're about 3" away from the end of the frame. Im getting a good deal on the bed so my question is is it possible to get shorter leaf springs or is there something else i can do? Any help is appreciated.
Reply:I'd say the logical answer is to make the bed longer...Who is John Galt?
Reply:x2 make the bed fit the truck more room and custom.
Reply:Make the bed longer, it will be good practice for you, and it will be worth keeping your suspension in the stock geometry. Id strongly recommend you get your hands on a plasma cutter and use a straight edge when doing the cutting, it will make the job much easier if you can ensure your cuts are straight and square.72 Chevy Cummins Project94 3500HD Welding Rig build Sold NOV 2011
Reply:You could set the bed on as is and use the space (12" or so) behind the cab for your bottles or build a storage space. Otherwise, I agree, lenghten the bed. |
