Bought a used trailer that was mostly made by a hack (i can tell as I am one). I was reinforcing the rails that were on there and adding support to it just to make myself feel better about it. The main issue that i noted is that due to the design there is no lateral support on the rails. I use it only for hauling atv's which are pretty light weight compared to the trailer. My question is, I wanted a cross brace for support that wouldnt impede on entry and exit of the trailer. I think I am going to weld some bolts in place and make a detachable crossbar that i can wing nut on and off when the atv's are on or coming off. in the back.Software is down so I used paint but you will get the idea. Any thoughts on a better design? The goal is to be able to use the rails as additional tie down points but this way they wont flex.Red is where new cross bar would go. Reply:Maybe a loading ramp that folds up/down and attaches at the top? Two birds with one stone.Tim
Reply:Not in pic, but good idea. Loading ramp already on there by P.O. Doesnt fit and not sturdy enuff to work. But, maybe i should chop it and restart... |
