Hey =) So a few days ago i posted a thread about my interest in welding and got some great advice (thanks to all who replied) =). I did some research and looked up several places that would teach welding, and i think i liked Lattc the most (Los Angeles Trade Tech college). My problem being is that im a junior in high school and i was worrie that they wouldn't allow me to attend. I asked around at my school at apparently I would be able to attend but it would have to be night classes. I guess my main concern or question would be if anyone knows if they'd take an application from me at this time? i'm just wondering if anyone knows or has been through this process?
Reply:If they are like any other college they will accept any one with prerequisite and education which always includes early enrollments from high schools. Community colleges will even have high school drop out students that will be taking supplemental classes to make up requirements from the point where they test in.Best thing you can do is call the school and get the information for how they function with their enrollment + ask about available finical assistance, grants, and scholarships all of which will have strict deadlines.from the website:http://college.lattc.edu/sicStudent Information Center WebsiteThe Information Center (Info Center) is located in the Lobby of the Student Services building (Juniper Hall) on Grand Avenue at 21st Street, and is your one stop for information about our college. Reply:There are no hard and fast rules with this. For instance, you can be enrolled in the system for a class without meeting the technical prerequisites on the approval of the instructor. If you run into any trouble, get in touch with one of the school counselors and offer to take prerequisite math and english placement tests.
Reply:Sounds good thanks for the info guys =) I welded my first piece of metal today and.... it was awesome lol =P A little shaky at the start and the electrode would get stuck but by the end i was able to do it a bit more smoother =D I figured I'll call the school on Tuesday to see if i can still enter for a class, since the spring semester already started but I'm trying to get night classes so i might be able to since im not trying to be an full time student. |
