Purchased this complete setup for $180. tanks haven't been tested since 87 and 86. Should I rebuild everything or just get tanks tested and give it a go? Is single gauge only on acet tank safe? Torch is Victor and hoses look good.Oxy gauge is Victor.Acet gauge Stuart Oxygen? Attached ImagesLast edited by whitestroke; 02-17-2013 at 01:09 PM.
Reply:One gauge is OK, but you won't know when the tank is getting close to empty until the low pressure starts dropping off. Reply:Make sure you stand the acetylene tank up for several hours before using it. The acetylene is diuted in acetone and it needs time to dissolve back in, once the tank is laid down. Otherwise, you end up with acetone spewing out of the regulator. My LWS didn't have any problem with my outdated tanks...told me there would be a small fee for testing, to get them back in date, when I exchanged them the first time.Kev.Kevin / Machine_Punk from The Aerodrome Studio - Lincoln PowerMIG 210 MP - Meco N Midget w/custom welding station - Vintage Victor 100Current Projects: The Aerodrome Studio |
