This first set of pictures is my second day ever welding. I've had about 10 minutes of training. It isn't perfectly square or anything. The point of this project is to have a lot of different types of welds to practice. I would love any pointers. This is the top layer of the fountain. The open square will be filled with sheet and there will be a tube coming up through the center of it. The water will pour off of the four pieces sticking out. Reply:Very interesting!Welding isn't bad... definitely need some practice, but don't we all.I bet you are better at Calculus than me... and this is coming from a Mech E student, I hate hate hate diffeq's...
Reply:haha. I just finished both of those this semester and i got a 79 in diff.eq and a 94 in calc III..definitely better at calc here too lol. I started the semester pretty lost in diff.eq because i took it at the same time as calcIII which isn't always the best thing to do but then ended up getting a 100% on my last test to save my grade :PLast edited by Lawnfairy243; 06-14-2011 at 10:27 PM.Hobart Handler 140 mig (started welding 6/5/11)I love math and have up to calc III and differential equations experience. Reply:First of all, what are you welding with. Stick? Mig? Tig? Second, settings? for pointers, we gotta know what your starting with. call it a baseline if you will... way cool idea! would love to see the finished project.
Reply:a real good start..welcome.
Reply:I hate to ask, but whats the story behind your user name 'Lawnfairy243' ?The image running through my head is some 'village people' prancing around my front yard trying to avoid my gunsights ! ;-)
Reply:It's the mig in my sig. I was running on setting 2 for voltage and about 40 for wire speed. Lawnfairy243 is the name i have used for most forums since middle school. It's the name that the football players at my school gave to the soccer players. When I realized how much harder the soccer players worked than the football players, i just embraced the name.Hobart Handler 140 mig (started welding 6/5/11)I love math and have up to calc III and differential equations experience.
