i am preparing for a job test which is FCAW .o45 wire with argon co2 shielding gas i have most positions dealt with but am in dire need of any advice with settings or techniques etc the proble is i am doing 1/2 inch plate beveled 45 degrees on both and 1/8th landing with 1/8th gap i am having a hell of a time getting the root in so if anyone out there that has done somethinglike this please any pointers or advice would be great!
Reply:if your taking a test with a company that isISO 9000, 9001,2,3 or what ever it is nowyou have to run the welder with in thejob description it will tell you amp/voltwirer speed and so onask them if they are iso ceritfied andif yes you want to see the job desc.Last edited by ed mac; 06-01-2010 at 10:36 PM.

Reply:it is an open route weld no backer on carbon steel but i fugured it out but here is another question? beveled plate 45 degrees open route half inch carbon plate in the overhead position? got me so far lol ok 7018 rod for root and tips or suggestions cause my frustration level is through the roof . oh ya the rod is 1/8th the back of the weld will be gouged out and rewelded but im haveing trouble getting it to wet in and seal the root any suggestions would greatly be appreciated! |
