I'm not sure I've ever checked to see that the Dinse cable/hose fitting was tight on the 180 SD and while Brink ME was using it today (but would have still happened if I were using it), the fitting disengaged from the adapter and ZAPPO!!!!Fortunately the adapter threads and seat were untouched and only the end required a light touching up to take care of the effects that were in the area of the arrow. The silver lining is I've been meaning to replace the original 12' cable/hose with a 25' so . . . Reply:Good point DuaneB.But "We have the technology, we can rebuild him, stronger, faster..." Silver solder, dress to shape (shut up Samm) and then maybe use a copper gasket per refrigerant connection.Hey, I just noticed that posting Mutley would be no problem here, the other thread must have censorship/restriction settings.Last edited by denrep; 06-02-2010 at 01:04 AM.
Reply:Duane,so this is a gas cooled power cable, that apparently has been loosely connected for some extended period of time, and it arced and melted the connection? I wonder if you ever noticed problems with porosity or weld discoloration that may have been a clue to loose and leaking fitting?
Reply:Yup, a little porosity the last time I used it. I wrote it off as I didn't have the material/filler rod clean enough.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:I think this a great post because it may remind us to check our weld system for loose connections and leaks more often. Thanks. |
