Aluminum Welding Table?

I have 8-24' sticks of 1.5” 1/16 wall aluminum round tubing that I was thinking of making a weld table out of.  I was thinking this was a good idea because it would be light but the problem is I want a steel top and trying to think how is a good secure way to attach it.I have a drill press and a 1.5” hole saw to make good copes for good fit up.  I am sure that I will have to brace it up really well, but how well.  I am planning on getting something at least 1/4” thick steel top.

Reply:Where did you get your aluminum? The place i get mine from is HUGE and only sells aluminum. But it doesn't sell any round tube, just pipe. Of course i can get it but it would be a mill order and i think thats like a 1000#s.www.performancealuminumfabrication.com

Reply:I just have plenty of Aluminum and I really like to weld aluminum.  I thought it would be a good ideal to make a top easily removable to replace it or move it.  It will not need to hold a lot just a good flat surface to weld on.  I got the material from a local guy who had some listed FS on CL.  $16 for 24’ sections.  I need to get a bender next so I can do something like stools and I also want to make some street bike stands.
