ESAB Migmaster 251 Replacement GUN???

Guys I am rebuilding an Old ESAB MigMaster 251. I need a New MIG Gun with Euro Quick Connection. Any ESAB owners out there replaced the Old MT-200 Mig Gun and are happy with the New Gun? What Gun are you using?

Reply:My Migmaster 250, came with the new Gunmaster 250 gun that replaced the MT-200. Its a fairly good gun. For most of my usage though I don't need the 15 ft cable length. So most of the time, I actually run a 10 ft Binzel Alpha 2. This has been a real nice gun. Attached Images

Reply:A Binzel alpha 2 is more then enough gun for a Esab 251. If you have any issues, the 350 amp swan-neck screws right on. (with jump liner) If you go to a 350 amp gun, the cable gets way too stiff and bulky. The Binzel #2 takes # 11 tweco tips although the Binzel style setup is heavier-duty.
Reply:The Alpha 2 has a 60% duty cycle rating @ 200 amps with a mixed gas, which makes it a fairly robust gun for my home hobbyist usage. I mostly weld 1/4" and thinner, so 200 amps is generally about all the higher I really need to take the output of the machine up to.
Reply:Gents Due to personnell issues I just picked up the Binzel Alpha 2, 15ft, .035 to .045 wire mig gun off of Ebay. It is a kit I have to cut the GUn and cable liner to length, but everything looks good. I will be building Propane tank BBQ pits (1/4 inch thick) and Double wall insulated BBQ pits out of 2 X 2 square tubing and thin sheet metal. Thin metal on the walls and 1/4 inch in the bottom, Fire box and Coal chute. Most of the stuff will be salvaged Metal to keep cost down. Lots of rust to flap wire off. What wire would you recommend for a beginner with the above job??
