I am building a handrail (for interior use) using .5''sq tubing and some cast STEEL knuckles I bought from King Metals. The only knuckles they had close to the size I wanted said they fit over .47". My problem stems from with the knuckles being cast they are not all perfect. Some of them I will be able to slide on the tubing with the appropriate amount of force, and maybe a little grease, but some I cannot even get started on the tubing.I am looking for any advise to make this process any easier. I am considering a dremel tool to clean out/grind the inside of the knuckles, or maybe heating them up with the torch first, however with them being cast steel, I'm not sure how that would work.Any thoughts?
Reply:< 1/2" wide hand file with good handle, nice vise on a solid workbench, and a 1/2" x 1/2" x XXX Go/NoGo block of steel.  Piece of kids sidewalk chalk, and file card brush. Good tunes on the nearby radio/ipod.  Alcohol for lubrication as required.  --zip

Reply:get a piece of 1/2" solid stock, set the knuckel on it and hammer it on, should stretch it out and  clear out all the small turds in the way...or call king and ask whats up.....
Reply:I keep a big old candle around so I can wipe my saw / file across it for some easy lube.miller syncrowave 250hobart handler 140home made 400 amp engine driven in progress...
