New Diversion 165 or used precision tig 185

Hi I am looking at getting my first tig welder and have come to these 2 options:Really what would be the best choice?I have a 50amp service will be doing work on custom furniture jigs ect. Only tig I have used in the past is this gigantic Lincoln tig unit welding mostly DOM tube and  bronze castings. I cant do a bigger service for the welder so cant get much larger welder and I have a cash limit too boot.
Reply:What does the precision 185 come with? Water cooler? Torch? Regulator? Et cetera?I run my syncrowave 300 from a 50 amp service and only trip the breaker if its running above 300 amps. If you find a good deal on a larger welder, don't worry about your available power, because it's the size of the job that will determine the power required, not the size of the welder.Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools
Reply:I think the 185 is the ready pack but have not gotten a clear answer on that yet. So an older Syncrowave 300 with cooler torch pulsar and peddle for around 800 wouldn't be a bad deal you think? It has gas solenoid valve issue.  What about doing delicate work "thin guage"  with something like this.Last edited by nikodell; 08-05-2010 at 10:16 PM.
Reply:That Syncro 300 is a lot more bang for your buck. Steve or one of the other guys here who repairs machines or sells parts can probably let you know how much the solenoid would run you. Replacing it shouldn't be that hard.I'm not all that up on those Lincolns (or even the older Syncro's), so I can't compare all the features, but the syncro's are good industrial machines and the cooler and torch are well worth it in my opinion. I'd have jumped on that 300 at that price rather than get a new Syncro 200 as my 1st machine..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:So this is the syncrowave machine, looks old but not beat up. I was a little concerned on making sure everything else was working on the thing, what should I look for on this particular unit. Attached Images
