Hi,So i went out to the garage and did some vertical welds with my oil cooled ac welder.first 2 pics are of the first pass..the rest are the cap.....!I used my old oil cooled welder which is a/c..i used ESAB 1/8 6013...90 amps for 1st pass and 100 amps for cap!By the way the esab 6013 rods are excellent..slag pealed of and very easy differentiation between puddle and slag! Deff recommend them for those of u who like 6013s.So anyway...would these weld pass an F3 test?? anything i could do better....ivan Attached ImagesLast edited by Paddypower; 03-14-2013 at 12:28 PM.
Reply:on the bottom left of welds it looks like there's undercut but its just heat from the weld...looks like undercut in the pic!
Reply:When you say,"oil cooled" does that mean the xfmr windings are in oil? Does the oil circulate?
Reply:coil is just submerged in oil...no circulation!
Reply:Need up closer pics, and less light shining directly on the welds.Miller Maxstar 200 SDPiperliner #10 Gold
Reply:I don't know about an "F3" test son, but for a real life working "practical" farm welder, they look great to me! That'll work on my farm any day.
