Miller Auto Darkening Lense gone t!ts up.........

About 6 months ago I ponied up $100 for a Miller lens that goes from shade 3 to 10...... I got it from my LWS....It has worked well... so long as I keep it charged...... (no batteries.... just UV....)......Today I was keeping the pencil sharp with stick welding and I got flashed 3 times on the first rod........I thought it was because the hood had been in the garage all week with the door closed.... so I put it outside in the sun for about 3 hours while I grabbed by fixed shade hood and continued working......Now the lens won't go dark at all......nothing... just shade 3 all the time......How does a MILLER lens go dead in 6 months? Reply:I'd guess it's under warranty. I'd take it back and I'm betting Miller will cover it..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Make sure it's clean.  The sensors will smoke up when doing stick welding.  Sometimes I use a Q-tip and alcohol to clean them.My name's not Jim....
Reply:No product is perfect, they all have a failure rate. Reply:My thought, which I've had before with my own Miller Elite, is that the lens is activated by the sunlight thereby running down the battery completely instead of charging it up. Does your lens have a sensitivity adjustment?

Reply:I have a Miller #10 in my Pipeliner hood. Sometimes, if I am in a tight area, and something gets in the way of the sensor, it will go light.
